The Perils of Over-sharing in Social Network

Summary:

In the article "The Perils of Over-sharing in Social Network, Emm (2014) states that people are increasingly getting dependent on technology to accomplish daily tasks. They also post online to notify their social circles about their whereabouts. This brings in the issue of personal security and privacy invasion as the internet is transparent and the government has access to online data. The growing trend poses a risk to not only oneself, but also to their company's image, should they divulge organization's information. Emm suggests a few precautionary measures such as password protection and software installation to maximize online security.

  1. Hi Aisyah thank you for your summary. This summary is very well done to what I believe. You have a very concise command in language, as well as you are able to summarize all the main points without distorting the main ideas. Word uses such as "whereabouts" and "divulge" can explain the idea clearly, where I need to brush up on as well. Thank you!

  2. Hi Aisyah, this is a well written summary. Your content and ideas are clearly presented. However, we feel that the part when you mentioned personal security is threatened due to the government having 'access to online data' is not accurate. This is because in the article, the threat to online security is due mainly to private information being easily accessible to the public, not just the government.

Your language use is also fine. However we feel that for this sentence, you are missing a 'their' in your sentence 'should they divulge organization's information. Nontheless, good job!
